Economy and HWS Chips

Learn about the features driving the economy on HWS.

Last updatedMay 20268 VIEWS

The HWS servers have a custom economic ecosystem that lets you save progress across full wipes and trade with other players. The Elemental Bank stores your HWS Chips, the primary digital currency used in HWS Frontier. You can use HWS Chips to upgrade your Orbital Cargo Drone and Elemental Bank, or to buy items from the HWS Marketplace and the Store.

HWS Chips#

There are multiple ways to earn more HWS Chips. Every hour you are online and active in-game, you receive HWS Chips based on your Elemental Bank level and supporter tier. Each supporter tier gets a multiplier on hourly income, up to 2x.

Bank level Vault tier HWS Chips per hour Full-wipe carryover
1 Standard vault 10 500
2 Reinforced vault 12 1,500
3 Expanded vault 14 3,000
4 Heavy vault 17 6,000
5 Technician vault 20 10,000

The hourly amount is the base earn rate before supporter multipliers. The full-wipe carryover is the maximum number of HWS Chips protected when a full wipe resets balances above the capacity.

Beyond passive income, you can also earn more HWS Chips by completing quests (see /quests). The more quests you complete within a season, the higher rewards generally become, and there is no limit to how many you can complete.

If your balance grows slowly at first, don't worry. Economy progression is designed to build steadily over time.

HWS Marketplace#

You can also sell items on the HWS Marketplace for credits. When you are in a safe-zone in-game (for example, Outpost), use the /sell <toolbar slot> <unit price> command. Your item will then be listed on the HWS Marketplace. Selling an item costs a 10% fee upfront, and each player can have up to three active listings.

Be careful when bringing valuable items to safe-zones, since some players may try to intercept you before you arrive. Bringing teammates for escort can help reduce that risk.

Anyone can sell items on the HWS Marketplace, but advanced filters are limited to Colonist+ subscribers.

Store#

The Store lets you buy items that are sent to your in-game inventory. Every day, three special offers are available and reset at 09:00 server time. The prices of these offers vary, so if you find something you want, it is best to act quickly. All items in the Store have unlimited supply, so as long as you have enough credits, there is no purchase limit.

The Store also has a permanent stock with a consistent item pool. Over time, contents and prices may be balanced, but from day to day you can expect it to stay mostly stable.
