AutoMod
HWS uses a custom auto-moderation plugin. Learn about it here.
While PvP can at times be frustrating, at its core it's meant to be fun and entertaining. When other people can't obey the rules, then it's typically annoying and not fun to play.
On HWS, we're using a custom AutoMod plugin, which deals with a lot of moderation automatically. It helps keep the chat clean and watches out for behavior that breaks the rules, forwarding that information to the staff team.
How it Works?#
Every player has a hidden "score" or reputation with the system. As you play, the server rewards good behavior and punishes bad behavior, often without notifying you of it. The exact criteria are kept private to prevent abuse. Generally, this system will give more warnings and lighter punishments to those who behave well, and fewer warnings and harsher consequences for those who don't.
Everyone has good and bad days. AutoMod sees past that and focuses on the bigger picture - how you behave over time, not on a single bad day.
AutoMod isn't something to worry about - it doesn't use hard-coded "good" or "bad" values, but rather compares you to the top and bottom 10% of behavior on the server. At worst, AutoMod will mute you; otherwise it forwards rule violations to staff members, who will deal with the situation appropriately.
The primary purpose of AutoMod is to assist staff members and help gather evidence of cheaters and those who break the rules. In some cases, the data from AutoMod may be used as evidence alongside staff judgment.
Note: Trying to misuse AutoMod, such as by baiting others, is not allowed, and can lead to punishments including muting, temporary bans, or permanent bans.
