Admin Conduct

Learn who we are, our philosophy, and how we run HWS Frontier.

Last updatedApril 20265 VIEWS

Transparency is something we value, and we want it to be clear how we run HWS Frontier. Therefore, we have set up this page so you can get a clear overview of the philosophy and guidelines we use to run the servers.

Our driving philosophy is to create a server run by experienced professionals, which appeals to the widest variety of playstyles. This is something we try to achieve using HWS Frontier web interface, which lets users save some of their progression through full wipes.

Core Philosophy#

PvP and Player Disputes#

Admins must always remain impartial, and never take sides. We are also only humans and subjective by nature, but we do everything we can to treat everyone equally. Just as we will respect all players, we do of course also expect it the other way around.

When we deal our punishments, we will try to follow the guidelines set up in our rules, though we judge every situation on a case-by-case basis.

Use of Admin Powers#

Any time we use our administrative tools, we will be honest about it. They are only used as a source of administrating and moderating the server, and never to give ourselves or anyone else free items or other progression. That also applies to our friends.

We will never spawn items, resources, or blueprints for ourselves or anyone else, under any circumstances.

Commands like vanish or noclip will only be used for moderation work (e.g., suspected cheating or griefing), not for scouting bases or gaining tactical advantages. Nor will we ever share the positions of players we find with others.

Playing as Admins#

When playing a PvP game like Rust, it can be very tempting to use admin commands to progress, even for minor things. Therefore, admins are not allowed to play on our own servers. We will never participate in PvP or be a hindrance to regular players, unless strictly necessary for moderation purposes.

In-game, our role is to moderate, deal with conflicts, and act as spectators. Not to play ourselves. With that said, we try to take an active part in the community and chat.

Enforcement and Evidence#

PvP is very emotional, and it's easy to become frustrated or angry. Our decisions are based on evidence, such as videos, rather than emotions. Without video evidence, we may or may not investigate (depending on available resources). In such cases, we may not be able to help.

To us, acceptable evidence is primarily video or a staff member witnessing the situation (we try to record, ourselves). In some cases, screenshots may be enough.

In some cases, we will ban players while we investigate and gather evidence. In these situations, a ticket in our Discord server may be created (in #🔥|create-help-ticket) to explain your perspective, which we will take into consideration in our investigations. We expect to resolve such investigations within 24 hours.

If a moderator is unsure of a ruling, they should escalate it to Dr. Dark in Discord.

Appeals#

If you believe that you've been unrightfully punished or you don't know why you were punished, you are welcome to create a ticket in the above-mentioned Discord server, and explain your perspective. Then we will revisit your situations, explain details you you might be missing, and consider whether your punishment should be changed.
